Suban swears he was bitten, Tribunal bans Masten
The West Australian
Relations between West Coast and Fremantle have been severely strained following an explosive tribunal hearing last night which saw Chris Masten suspended for two matches for biting Nick Suban and Docker Alex Silvagni banned for four weeks for striking Jamie Cripps.
Silvagni pleaded guilty and apologised to Cripps during his case, but Masten protested his innocence as Suban maintained his on-field allegation that he had been bitten. The Eagles accused Suban of inappropriate and unsportsmanlike behaviour by trying to “rough up” Masten after he’d disposed of the ball.
Suban denied the Eagles’ claims.

Freo's Barlow uninjured, just out of formFremantle coach Ross Lyon has revealed poor form rather than injury convinced him to sub out star midfielder Michael Barlow in Sunday's 24-point derby loss to West Coast.
Barlow, a two-time Ross Glendinning medal winner, was handed the red vest early in the third term after tallying just four disposals in his quietest performance ever.
The low return is in stark contrast to his regular output, with Barlow regularly racking up disposals in the high 20s or low 30s as part of a blue-chip Dockers midfield.
Lyon was quick to dismiss any concerns that Barlow had been injured.
