Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says it is a good sign of the club’s culture that players such as four-time All Australian ruckman Aaron Sandilands, Matt de Boer and Jon Griffin have re-signed.
The trio all extended their contracts this week with Sandilands and de Boer to remain at the club until at least the end of 2016 and Griffin until the end of 2017.
Sandilands would have been a highly sought after free agent at the end of the season, while de Boer and Griffin are currently out of the Freo senior team.
“It’s a good endorsement of where the football club is at,” Lyon said.
“It’s a pretty healthy environment, that they’re enjoying their club and their teammates.”
Lyon said Sandilands was a consistent performer and leader.
“He is blue collar, does the work, doesn’t talk too much and gets it done,” he said.
“When something needs to be said, he says it.
“He’s a really good leader.
“He’s a pleasure to coach.”
