A wager between mates has helped raise nearly $80,000 for Fremantle Dockers community partner Redkite.
Last year, Redkite WA regional president Alan Pavisich bet his friend and long-time Eagles supporter, Danny Psaros that Freo’s WA rival would not make the finals.
If they did, Pavisich said he would walk 20km from Fremantle to West Leederville in a red tutu.
With West Coast making the finals, Pavisich’s fate was sealed and on Monday morning he was farewelled by RedKite ambassador and Fremantle utility Tendai Mzungu.
“I wanted to be involved after hearing about the bet at a recent Redkite quiz night, I’m a proud Redkite ambassador,” Mzungu said.
“It’s for a really good cause and I’m really proud of their efforts.”
The light-hearted wager highlights a serious message.

During this year’s Toyota AFL Finals Series an estimated 120 families across Australia will find out their child has cancer.
Pavisich’s daughter Brooke (11) was diagnosed with cancer at just 10 months old.
To add to the heartbreak, Pavisich was diagnosed with stage four cancer, just a few months later, and was given just weeks to live.
Both survived after intensive treatment and Pavisich has dedicated his life since, to supporting young people who have cancer and their families.
“The walk is a lot of fun for a great cause, for kids with cancer,” Pavisich said.
“Brooke is now doing fine which is great.”
Psaros agreed to join Pavisich on the walk, minus the red tutu.
RedKite offers counselling and financial support to people aged under 25 diagnosed with cancer and their families.
