Fremantle will be looking to restore a home ground advantage against Essendon on Saturday, after the Bombers recent wins at Domain Stadium.

Essendon has won two of the past three matches against Fremantle at home.

Lethal kicks a new strength

The Bombers have a remarkable interstate record of eight wins from their past 10 games outside of Victoria.

The last time the teams met at Domain Stadium, in Round 4 last year, Freo had a comfortable 53-point win.

But in 2012 and 2013, the Bombers took the points against Freo, in two tightly fought contests.

Speaking on 6PR’s Sports Today senior coach Ross Lyon said Essendon were a big challenge.

“They were mentally pretty strong (last week),” he said.

“They beat us over here the year before and we understand they’re capable.”

Lyon said the whole competition was very even this year.

“We’re not relaxing and we need to improve,” he said.

Fremantle play Essendon at Domain Stadium Saturday 9 May. Bounce down is at 6.10pm.
