New recruit Ed Langdon initially found it a bit daunting moving to Freo from Victoria, but said his new teammates had made life a lot easier for him.
Langdon ready to start his life again
Langdon came from Sandringham and is the younger brother of Collingwood’s Tom.
He was taken by Freo with pick 54 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
“I’m a few months in now,” he said.
“I’ve started to get to know a few of the lads pretty well, so they’ve made it a lot easier moving over.”
With Langdon having his pre-season interrupted by a stress reaction, he has put that behind him and played for Peel Thunder last Saturday.
Langdon said he is adjusting to being an AFL footballer and looks forward to improving as the year rolls on.
“It’s started to sink in now, the fairytale is kind of wearing off a bit,” he said.
“Now I’m just getting stuck into the hard work.
“The season starts this week and it’s been pretty intense lately.
“I’m still loving it, still really enjoying it.”
Last week’s match for Peel was the first time Langdon had played against senior players in a competitive hit-out and he really enjoyed his first experience.
Freo stars shine for Peel
“Coming straight from the TAC Cup I’d only played against under 18 footballers, so the bigger bodies were probably the main thing I was thinking about going into the game,” he said.
“At the end of the day, you don’t really notice it when you’re playing, you just play footy.
“The tempo of the game was pretty good.
“It took me a bit to get into it, but after the first quarter I’d say I was reasonably comfortable.”
