Midfielder Michael Barlow says every Freo player is as valuable as the man next to him, including those outside the playing 22.
While prominent stars like Nat Fyfe, Matthew Pavlich and Aaron Sandilands earn weekly plaudits, Barlow said every player was critical to team success.
Magnificent Fyfe
“The contribution across the board was great, there were not too many, if any, weak links tonight,” he said.
“All three lines are gelling really well.
“It’s not just one, two or three contributors.”
Barlow said it was not just the 22 on-field who were crucial, but all those pushing for selection at training each week too.
“It’s not just the 22, but every bloke outside the 22 is banging down the door,” he said.
“Their training standards, guys like Jon Griffin, Matt de Boer and Tendai Mzungu, is exceptional.
“We value those guys as much as we value Nat (Fyfe), Aaron (Sandilands) and Matthew (Pavlich).
Barlow said Freo’s core groups have played together for a number of years and knew each other’s game in and out.
“Across the whole team, we’ve all played consistently for three or four years,” he said.
“We know what each other are thinking.
“The trust in the group is at a premium level, but we’re not satisfied, we want to take that to an optimum level."
