Facing back-to-back premiers Hawthorn at their second home in Launceston is one of the most daunting prospects in the AFL but Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says his side is not afraid of the challenge.
The top four clash has the footy world salivating with both teams heading into Sunday’s clash at Aurora Stadium on the back of consecutive wins.
Lyon told 6PR on Monday that Fremantle respected the Hawks and was looking forward to the challenge.
“We don’t fear anyone,” he said.
“They’re a great team…you’d be a fool not to respect them.
“We look forward to travelling to Launceston…we’re excited for the opportunity.”
Lyon said Fremantle had managed to win the four points in difficult conditions in recent weeks, which was testament to his side’s mental strength.
Freo - Hawks rivalry continues
“It’s a credit to our group’s mental toughness and experience,” he said.
“That’s a skill in itself and that doesn’t happen by chance.
“We’ll keep pushing and try to improve.”
Fremantle play Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium on Sunday 12 July. Bounce down is at 3.20pm local time.
