Star Fremantle midfielder Nat Fyfe is expected to train with the main group later this week in a bid to be available for Saturday’s Qualifying Final against Sydney.

Fyfe has missed the past two games due to leg soreness in his left shin but Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber said he got through running drills unimpeded on Monday.

“Nathan’s trained really strongly this week,” Weber said.

“At this stage, he will be available to train with the main group on Thursday and hopefully that will get him available for selection later in the day.”

Hayden Ballantyne (pectoral tendon) is also in the mix for his first game since tearing the muscle from the bone in round 16.

“Hayden’s had a fantastic run through his rehab program,” he said.

“He has got his strength back and is fully functional.”

Ruckman Jon Griffin (hamstring) was on light running duties on Tuesday morning but will be unavailable for two weeks.

Cam Sutcliffe (shoulder) should be available for selection but will need to pass a final fitness test.
