In the quest to turn Perth purple for the 2015 Finals series, the Fremantle Dockers may have found their biggest fans…weighing just over three tonne each.
Permai and Tricia, elephants from Perth Zoo were happy to ‘Fly the Flag’ by showing off their artistic abilities on the eve of the finals.
Zoo keeper Steve Edmunds says the elephants are always keen to do some art and craft.
“They do enjoy the paintings,” Edmunds said.
“It’s something that’s easy for them and they get lots of treats and praise while they’re doing them.”
Permai is not only handy with a paintbrush but with a footy as well.
The 25-year-old elephant had on-lookers in cheers after she drop-kicked a football 30 metres.
Director of community engagement Claire Wright is delighted Perth Zoo is behind the Freo Dockers in the finals and also excited to be flying the flag at her workplace.
“I’m so excited to be supporting the top team on the ladder,” Wright said.
“We’re talking about it all the time at work and also amongst friends and family.”
If you ‘Fly the Freo Flag’ like Claire, Tricia and Permai you could be flying to the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final thanks to Virgin Australia.
