Following a massive turnout at Fremantle Oval on Tuesday, Ross Lyon says the message to the players has been to remain focused.

Hundreds of fans ventured to Freo on Tuesday morning to watch the team’s final public training session before the preliminary final this Saturday night against Sydney at Patersons Stadium.

“It’s easy for the players to be enthusiastic at this time of year but we have to hold them back a little bit,” Lyon said on Channel 7.

“We’ve told them to stay focused and do what you need to do, but they really enjoyed seeing all the members and fans here.

“We’re still building, we’ve got a few days to go of preparation.

“We’re really excited about what lies ahead but we know it’s going to be really tough.”

The team will hold a closed training session on Thursday before the match against the reigning premiers.

Michael Johnson, who has not played since round 22, looks set to return for the game.

“He did really well today, he’ll train in our last session and then he’s up for selection,” Lyon said.

“At this stage, we’re quite confident, but he has to jump a few more hurdles.”
