Fremantle defender Lee Spurr is arguably in career best form this season and is relishing a running role in defence.
Spurr is averaging 18.6 disposals in 16 games this season, pipping his previous best of 17.6 set last year.
He is one of a handful of Fremantle players who have been tasked with using the ball from defence in the absence of the silky Michael Johnson, who suffered a hamstring injury in round 10.
Spurr had a career high 32 touches against the Giants on Sunday.
“Everyone enjoys getting the footy and having some kicks,” he said.
“I’m just keen to play my role.
“We’ve been moving the ball well in the back line.
“We’ve got plenty of guys like Ibbo (Garrick Ibbotson), Cam (Sutcliffe) and Hilly (Stephen Hill) at times.”
