Fremantle Dockers defender Tommy Sheridan is coming off an impressive pre-season that saw him utilise his running abilities and find plenty of the football during Freo’s NAB Challenge campaign.
The Freo running machine averaged 24 disposals in Freo’s three pre-season contests, including a career best 28 against Adelaide in NAB 2.
While Sheridan has been glowing in his praise for new defensive coach Brent Guerra, he jokingly attributed his recent form to one key difference.
“I’m not the sub anymore,” Sheridan laughed.
“I don’t know how many times I was the sub, but it’s great to be playing full games again.

In his 38 game career, Sheridan became well acquainted with being the substitute, beginning the game with the now defunct green vest on 12 occasions whilst also being subbed off twice.
Increased playing time may be one of the factors that led to Sheridan finding more of the footy, but the rangy halfback said statistics are of little importance to him.
“Whether it’s 15, 25 or 35, you don’t really reflect on the game in terms of possessions,” he said.
“It’s always nice to get a few more, but it’s not something I really worry about.
“During the game it’s all about your role, your effort and knowing what the team needs, and if you’ve ticked all that off you’ll be pretty happy.”
