Four Freo players traded the green grass of Fremantle Oval for the kitchen on Wednesday, as they did their part for the children and families of Ronald McDonald House.

“We’ve come down and are cooking up a feed for the young kids and families down here at Ronald McDonald House,” Connor Blakely said.

“This is our second trip here, and we’ll continue to come back and cook everyone some dinner and have a few laughs with them afterward.”

Blakely looked right at home in the kitchen, explaining the menu for the evening while effortlessly preparing a pumpkin soup.

“On the menu for the tonight, we have a fish curry and a lamb korma which should be pretty nice.”

Blakely’s teammate Hayden Crozier wasn’t as familiar in the kitchen environment, admitting that his home life may have contributed to that.

“I don’t do a whole lot of cooking,” Crozier admitted.

“I actually live with Tommy Sheridan who has always been pretty quick to self proclaim himself as a pretty good chef.”

Pearce piles on the pressure

Alex Pearce and Cam Sutcliffe couldn’t contain their laughter at the prospect of Sheridan fancying himself as a top chef.

But Pearce said he had the utmost confidence in the cooking abilities of his teammates at Ronald McDonald House.

“I’ve been pretty impressed with Cam and Connor’s skills,” he said.

“I haven’t seen too much of Hayden Crozier, but I guess we’ll see how he goes.

“We have full faith and we’re backing him in!”
