The students of Beaconsfield Primary School recently received a very special visit from Fremantle player and Starlight Children’s Foundation ambassador Matt de Boer.

De Boer visited the school to acknowledge the fundraising efforts of twelve-year-old Colin Carr and his peers.

Colin wrote a letter to his school principal, Mrs Jack, requesting his class run a purple day to raise money for the Starlight Purple Haze tally.

Students were encouraged to dress in Fremantle apparel in exchange for a gold coin donation.

The work of Starlight became known to Colin two years ago when his friend with Down Syndrome was admitted to hospital.

When de Boer head of Colin’s “purple campaign”, he wanted to thank the year 5 student by helping him visit each classroom collecting donations.

In total, Colin and the school raised more than $470 for Starlight.

How Fremantle went in the 2016 Brownlow

The Starlight Children’s Foundation is dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families by providing positive interactions.

Each year the Fremantle Football Club hosts the Starlight Purple Haze Game to raise money for Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The annual match began in 2003 and has since grown to become a special community event on the club’s calendar.

The match is a fantastic community initiative, where much needed funds are raised for Starlight.
