Fremantle midfielder Danyle Pearce said Freo’s lack of composure proved costly in their four point loss to Carlton on Sunday.

Despite winning the disposal count throughout the game, Freo were unable to use the ball effectively, and was a factor that Pearce said needed continued improvement.

“That’s exactly what we need to do,” Pearce said of Freo’s need to improve their composure.

“(We need to) Try to find the spare man, hit the targets, build the ball movement down the field and give our forwards some opportunities.”

Pearce said that despite the loss, the resolve of the playing group wouldn’t be broken.

“It’s very, very disappointing,” he admitted.

“We’re not going to stop giving effort and we’re going to keep working.

“We’re not going to give up on each other, we’re not going to turn on each other.

Talking points from Sunday's match

“We’re going to keep sticking by each other we hope the fans will continue to support us like they always do.”

Despite the result, Pearce saw positives in Freo’s younger players, as second gamer Brady Grey and debutant Darcy Tucker were solid in a tightly contested game.

“They were great, and put in a really great effort,” he said.

“They put their head over the ball and ran really well.

“It was disappointing we couldn’t get the win for them.”
