The Fremantle Dockers aim to honour the Anzacs with their effort in the Len Hall Tribute Game against Carlton on Sunday, according to Lee Spurr.
Spurr said it was an honour to be part of the game and that being able to take the field on such a day puts things in perspective.
Talking points: Rd 5 v Carlton
“It’s an honour to be part of the game,” Spurr said.
“It’s just a game of footy, but you want to go out there and honour what they did and the sacrifices they made so that we can play our game and live under the great conditions that Australia is in.”
Spurr said the feeling within the playing group was upbeat despite the winless start to the season, and that Freo was close to putting it all together on game day.
“We’re really up and energised,” he said.
“We took some real positives from the North Melbourne game.
“We played some really good footy in patches and identified a few areas to improve.
“If we can nail them we can be a really competitive side, and we think we’re in pretty good shape.”
Spurr expecting "fierce" Carlton
While competing hard and winning is always the goal within the Freo playing group, Spurr said being part of the Len Hall Tribute Game puts things into perspective for the team.
“It really puts into perspective the sacrifices they made,” he said.
“(We’ll) Respect it and go out and honour it with our effort.”
