Fremantle’s first season under new senior coach Justin Longmuir has been mapped out with the release of the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture on Thursday.

There are four night games at home at Optus Stadium for Fremantle in 2020, including the round six Len Hall Tribute Game against Geelong and the round 18 RAC Derby.

Fremantle will also host powerhouse Victorian clubs Collingwood (Rd 19), Richmond (Rd 23), Hawthorn (Rd 2) and Carlton (Rd 14) at Optus Stadium, with the Hawks heading west for Freo’s first game at home in round two on Sunday 29 March.

The Geelong clash will be played under lights on Sunday 26 April ahead of the Anzac Day public holiday on Monday.

Fremantle will additionally host Brisbane (Rd 11) and St Kilda (Rd 21) under Saturday night lights at Optus Stadium. Their remaining homes games are against Gold Coast (Rd 4), the Western Bulldogs (Rd 9) and Melbourne (Rd 16).

Freo have double up games against traditional rivals West Coast, as well as the Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Melbourne and Gold Coast.

Fremantle’s round one game is an away clash against Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday 21 March.

The ‘away’ RAC Derby will be played in round seven as a Sunday twilight fixture at Optus Stadium.

Fremantle will travel to Hobart for the first time for a clash with North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena in round five.

There are four trips to Victoria to face Essendon (Rd 1), Melbourne (Rd 3), St Kilda (Rd 10) and the Western Bulldogs (Rd 17).

The clash against Melbourne is Freo’s only home and away fixture at the MCG.

There are two games at Adelaide Oval against Adelaide (Rd 8) and Port Adelaide (Rd 15), two games in Sydney against Sydney (Rd 12) and GWS (Rd 22) as well as away trip to face Gold Coast (Rd 20).

Fremantle’s bye is in round 13.

In a positive for Fremantle, there are only five six-day breaks for the season.

Fremantle president Dale Alcock said excitement was building for the 2020 season.

“With the 2020 fixture now locked in, we can clearly look ahead for our first season with Justin Longmuir as senior coach,” Alcock said.

“We are pleased to have four home night games at Optus Stadium, allowing the club to showcase one of the best sporting facilities in the world to our passionate fan base.

“We also look forward to facing Geelong this year for the Len Hall Tribute Game, a fixture that consistently produces memorable games, as well as our home Saturday night clash in the RAC Derby.

“In addition, we look forward to our home clashes at Optus Stadium against big drawing Victorian clubs Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and Carlton.

“From a football perspective, we are pleased to have five six-day breaks, which allows us to limit the rigours of the significant travel required across the home and away season.

“There’s now just 150 days until our first AFL home game at Optus Stadium against Hawthorn in round two and I can’t want to see the Purple Army out in force once again.

“We’re also excited to have the opportunity to work with the AFL and official broadcasters on securing a further Saturday night game for our floating fixture against Richmond in round 23.”
