Lachie Weller’s parents will be flying to Perth to watch Freo’s clash with St Kilda on Sunday at Domain Stadium.
But don’t expect to see them cheering for either side.
Weller’s brother Mav will also heading west - running out for the Saints to continue a long-running sibling rivalry.
“It’s a big occasion for the family,” Lachie Weller said on Channel 7’s Today Tonight on Thursday.
“On the day I think mum will have the Freo and Saints scarves on.”
Growing up in Tasmania, the brothers used their rivalry as a motivator for their development.
Four years younger than Mav, Lachie said he would be on alert in the rare occasion he beat his older brother
“We wouldn’t come inside until Mum called out that dinner was ready,” Weller said.
“We played a lot of footy together when we were young in the backyard.
“If I was going to win, I’d probably win and run away as I knew he’d come running after me.
“So I’d run to mum and she’d save me.”

Lachie said seeing Mav get drafted to the Gold Coast in 2010 inspired the then 14-year-old in pursuing his own career.
“I’m really proud of what he’s done,” said Lachie of Mav.
“Obviously when he got drafted it gave me a lot of belief that I could do it as well.”
The pair have played against each other twice before, first in round 19, 2015 and second in round 10, 2016 – both at Etihad Stadium.
“You want to see each other do well,” Weller said.
“But he’s just another player when you get out there. He’s an opposition player so you treat him the same.”
