A hamstring injury has put Hayden Ballantyne’s hopes of being available to play round one in doubt.
Ballantyne limped off in the third quarter of Fremantle’s 21-point JLT Community Series win over Carlton on Friday night at Domain Stadium.
Fremantle have just over two weeks to recover before opening their home and away season against Geelong on 26 March at Domain Stadium, but senior coach Ross Lyon said post-game Ballantyne may face up to a month on the sidelines.
“Hayden is disappointed. He was really coming along and looking cherry ripe,” Lyon said.
“We’re waiting on scans but… we’re probably looking at three to four weeks, which will probably exclude him from round one.”
Lyon also confirmed that Cam Sutcliffe should be available for round one selection after the defender came off late in the opening term with a foot injury.
