Fremantle’s new elite training and admin facility will provide players with every opportunity to be at their best, says ruckman Zac Clarke.

Clarke was on hand for a tour of the facility on Wednesday morning with Premier Colin Barnett, and gave an insight into how Fremantle’s new primary training base will benefit the group.

“It’s second to none,” Clarke said.

“There’s no other facility like this in the state or even the country, so I can see a lot of benefits for the boys.”

Clarke spoke to the media in the new gym, which is significantly larger than the current weights room at Fremantle Oval.

At the new facility, the locker room and the medical space will be three times their current size.

“You won’t be on top of each other like we are at the moment,” Clarke said.

“Even behind me, you can see in the gym there’s so much more room.”

Fremantle’s new training oval has movable goal posts on one end, with a GPS system that can map out any AFL ground.

To Clarke, this attention to detail will only give Fremantle an edge.

“It makes it easier when you’re going through strategy and tactics,” Clarke said.

“To have the exact size of the ground you’ll be playing on, it's certainly going to be a big benefit.

The 203cm ruckman played 13 games in 2016, before undergoing surgery on his knee, and Clarke hopes to get back to full training soon.

“I had a procedure at the end of last season just to clean it up and strengthen the knee,” Clarke said.

“In early December I had a little set back but I’m tracking really well now, and I’m hoping to be back running in a couple weeks.”
