- WA Premier shows his purple side
- Trade period verdict: How each club fared
- Blockbuster deal delivers pick two and Matera
The 2018 Trade Period saw 31 trades completed and a host of players and draft picks switch clubs.
AFL.com.au's reporters give their take on each club's best 22 after all the trades have been done.
B: Griffin Logue, Joel Hamling, Lee Spurr
HB: Nathan Wilson, Michael Johnson, Luke Ryan
C: Stephen Hill, Connor Blakely, Bradley Hill
HF: Michael Walters, Brennan Cox, Harley Bennell
F: Hayden Ballantyne, Cam McCarthy, Brandon Matera
R: Aaron Sandilands, Nat Fyfe, Lachie Neale
INT: David Mundy, Sean Darcy, Ed Langdon, Ethan Hughes
NOTES: Trade acquisitions Nathan Wilson and Brandon Matera slot straight into the best 22. Damaging half-back Wilson is essentially a like-for-like replacement for Lachie Weller, while Matera could help release Walters and Bennell further up the ground. The Dockers' ruck situation is intriguing. Will Darcy be the No.1, and can he and Sandilands play in the same team? Smaller, high-pressure forward lines are all the rage but talls Kersten, Taberner and, hopefully, injury-plagued Apeness should be pushing for spots. Alex Pearce appears Freo's long-term centre half-back but how he returns from nearly two years on the sidelines remains to be seen.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Michael Apeness, Brady Grey, Shane Kersten, Alex Pearce, Danyle Pearce, Tommy Sheridan, Nick Suban, Cam Sutcliffe, Matt Taberner, Darcy Tucker
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Taylin Duman, Ryan Nyhuis, Luke Strnadica - Travis King
Nathan Wilson can expect to slot straight in at half-back for Freo. Picture: AFL Photos
B: Jake Kelly, Daniel Talia, Luke Brown
HB: Rory Laird, Kyle Hartigan, David Mackay
C: Bryce Gibbs, Rory Sloane, Rory Atkins
HF: Tom Lynch, Taylor Walker, Riley Knight
F: Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins, Mitch McGovern
R: Sam Jacobs, Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch
INT: Paul Seedsman, Richard Douglas, Wayne Milera, Hugh Greenwood
NOTES: Bryce Gibbs slots straight into the side and bolsters the Crows' midfield. He can also fill-in across half-back with Brodie Smith set to miss most of the season. North Melbourne veteran Sam Gibson provides extra depth to the midfield after playing 130 games with the Kangaroos, but I can't find a spot for him in the club's best 22. The same goes for utility Andy Otten and second-year player Jordan Gallucci. Curtly Hampton will also be pushing to regain his spot after an ankle injury ruined the second half of his 2017 campaign.
NOT CONSIDERED: Brodie Smith (ACL – will battle to be back before finals)
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Kyle Cheney, Ben Davis, Harry Dear, Tom Doedee, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Sam Gibson, Curtly Hampton, Elliott Himmelberg, Andy Otten, Myles Poholke, Reilly O'Brien, Matthew Signorello.
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Jonathon Beech, Ben Jarman, Paul Hunter, Alex Keath - Lee Gaskin
B: Daniel McStay, Harris Andrews, Luke Hodge
HB: Darcy Gardiner, Josh Walker, Daniel Rich
C: Hugh McCluggage, Dayne Beams, Ryan Bastinac
HF: Lewis Taylor, Eric Hipwood, Allen Christensen
F: Charlie Cameron, Michael Close, Ryan Lester
R: Stefan Martin, Mitch Robinson, Dayne Zorko
INT: Sam Mayes, Tom Cutler, Alex Witherden, Nick Robertson
NOTES: Some handy inclusions from the 2017 team, with Charlie Cameron and Luke Hodge traded in, while Allen Christensen will be fit barring any more setbacks. Michael Close is at full-forward but is currently out of contract and he was dropped three times this year. However, there are few obvious replacements. Josh Walker has played plenty of football in attack but impressed when he moved to defence and Daniel McStay looks better in the backline as well. Ryan Bastinac could be squeezed out for someone younger, but his second half of the season was probably his best form since he wore North Melbourne colours.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Jacob Allison, Claye Beams, Tom Bell, Jarrod Berry, Rohan Bewick, Cedric Cox, Liam Dawson, Jack Frost, Ben Keays, Corey Lyons, Rhys Mathieson, Marco Paparone, Sam Skinner, Archie Smith
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Jake Barrett, Matt Eagles, Matthew Hammelmann, Cian Hanley, Mitchell Hinge, Oscar McInerney, Reuben William - Dinny Navaratnam
B: Kade Simpson, Liam Jones, Caleb Marchbank
HB: Sam Docherty, Jacob Weitering, Lachie Plowman
C: Dale Thomas, Patrick Cripps, Darcy Lang
HF: Matthew Wright, Levi Casboult, Matthew Kennedy
F: Jack Silvagni, Charlie Curnow, Sam Petrevski-Seton
R: Matthew Kreuzer, Ed Curnow, Marc Murphy
INT: Ciaran Byrne, David Cuningham, Jarrod Pickett, Alex Silvagni
NOTES: Midfielders Patrick Cripps and Ed Curnow were sadly missed towards the end of this season because of injury and their return will be welcomed. While Bryce Gibbs’ defection to the Crows will hurt in the short term, the Blues have added much-needed depth to their midfield with the inclusion of ex-Giant Matthew Kennedy and former Cat Darcy Lang, who should go straight into their best combination. Scoring enough goals has been Carlton’s biggest problem for a while and a priority for Brendon Bolton in 2018 will be finding the right combination in the forward half. The Blues have two first-round picks in next month’s NAB AFL Draft and are set to add at least one more young midfielder/defender.
NOT CONSIDERED: Andrew Phillips (foot – TBC), Sam Rowe (ACL – hopes to be back mid-season)
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Blaine Boekhorst, Zac Fisher, Nick Graham, Patrick Kerr, Sam Kerridge, Jed Lamb, Matthew Lobbe, Harrison Macreadie, Harry McKay, Cameron Polson, Billie Smedts, Simon White, Tom Williamson.
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Jesse Glass-McCasker, Kym Lebois - Howard Kotton
B: Matthew Scharenberg, Lynden Dunn, Tom Langdon
HB: Jeremy Howe, Darcy Moore, Brayden Maynard
C: Daniel Wells, Adam Treloar, Steele Sidebottom
HF: Will Hoskin-Elliott, Ben Reid, Jordan De Goey
F: Jamie Elliott, Mason Cox, Alex Fasolo
R: Brodie Grundy, Scott Pendlebury, Taylor Adams
INT: Travis Varcoe, Tyson Goldsack, Tom Phillips, Jack Crisp
NOTES: There are obvious weaknesses – particularly in regard to key forwards and key backs – but if the Pies can enjoy a rare good run with injury, their continued development and increased familiarity could lift them back into finals contention next year. Young forward Darcy Moore has been earmarked for a trial in defence in the pre-season in a move that will – along with versatile veterans Tyson Goldsack, Ben Reid and Travis Varcoe – add greater flexibility. The 'American Pie' Mason Cox, fresh from signing a three-year deal, should be given an extended run, and his forward/ruck combination with Brodie Grundy could become a weapon. Though left out of this line-up, one-game teenage forward Kayle Kirby could be a bolter if he can streamline his physique and build the required fitness base to showcase his obvious talents.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: James Aish, Jarryd Blair, Tom Broomhead, Callum Brown, Ben Crocker, Josh Daicos, Levi Greenwood, Kayle Kirby, Chris Mayne, Sam McLarty, Sam Murray, Adam Oxley, Jackson Ramsay, Brayden Sier, Ben Sinclair, Josh Smith, Josh Thomas, Rupert Wills
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Max Lynch - Ben Collins
B: Mark Baguley, Michael Hurley, Adam Saad
HB: Conor McKenna, Michael Hartley, Andrew McGrath
C: David Zaharakis, Dyson Heppell, Brendon Goddard
HF: Jake Stringer, Joe Daniher, Devon Smith
F: Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti, Cale Hooker, Orazio Fantasia
R: Tom Bellchambers, Zach Merrett, Darcy Parish
INT: James Stewart, Patrick Ambrose, Jayden Laverde, Kyle Langford
NOTES: The Bombers' three big name recruits – Jake Stringer, Adam Saad and Devon Smith – fit in nicely to what the club already has built in recent years. Stringer and Smith will give the forward line more potency and the Bombers are hopeful they can add to their midfield depth, while Saad's arrival will allow Andy McGrath to spend more time in the midfield. Essendon's midfield still lacks some bigger bodies, but the responsibility rests with fourth-year players Jayden Laverde and Kyle Langford to step up in that area.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Josh Begley, Craig Bird, Mitch Brown, Dylan Clarke, Travis Colyer, Matt Dea, Aaron Francis, Martin Gleeson, Josh Green, Ben Howlett, Matthew Leuenberger, Jackson Merrett, Alex Morgan, Kobe Mutch, David Myers, Mason Redman, Jordan Ridley
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Sam Draper, Luke Lavender, Jake Long, Shaun McKernan, Ben McNeice - Callum Twomey
B: Tom Stewart, Lachie Henderson, Jed Bews
HB: Zach Tuohy, Harry Taylor, Jake Kolodjashnij
C: Mark Blicavs, Joel Selwood, Mitch Duncan
HF: Brandan Parfitt, Tom Hawkins, Nakia Cockatoo
F: Gary Ablett, Patrick Dangerfield, Daniel Menzel
R: Zac Smith, Scott Selwood, Sam Menegola
INT: Cam Guthrie, James Parsons, Jordan Murdoch, Jackson Thurlow
NOTES: It's a new-look backline without the retired Tom Lonergan and Andrew Mackie, with Harry Taylor expected to head back to his more familiar role in defence to add experience. The midfield looks pretty much the same, although Patrick Dangerfield and Gary Ablett are sure to spend time both in attack and in the guts. Daniel Menzel is probably still in the best 22 after signing a new deal following an aborted attempt to leave via free agency, but Cory Gregson and Lincoln McCarthy will offer competition for forward line spots if they can overcome injury problems, while Steven Motlop is off to Port Adelaide.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Ryan Abbott, Aaron Black, Wylie Buzza, Jordan Cunico, Ryan Gardner, Cory Gregson, Matthew Hayball, George Horlin-Smith, Timm House, Lincoln McCarthy, Quinton Narkle, Esava Ratugolea, Tom Ruggles, Rhys Stanley
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Zach Guthrie, Jack Henry, Jamaine Jones, Mark O'Connor, Sam Simpson - Jennifer Phelan
B: Jesse Joyce, Steven May, Jarrod Harbrow
HB: Pearce Hanley, Rory Thompson, Sean Lemmens
C: Lachie Weller, David Swallow, Touk Miller
HF: Jack Martin, Peter Wright, Alex Sexton
F: Aaron Young, Tom Lynch, Ben Ainsworth
R: Jarrod Witts, Will Brodie, Aaron Hall
INT: Matt Rosa, Jarryd Lyons, Callum Ah Chee, Michael Rischitelli
NOTES: No Gary Ablett and Brandon Matera anymore, although Lachie Weller and Aaron Young have slotted straight into the best 22 after arriving from Fremantle and Port Adelaide respectively. Veteran Michael Rischitelli gets in ahead of fellow experienced midfielder Michael Barlow, who is coming back from a broken leg. Sam Day hasn't made the cut, simply because he missed the entirety of 2017 with a horrific hip dislocation comparable to the type of injury sustained in a car crash. He'll provide competition in the key position stakes, depending on where new coach Stuart Dew wants to use him, when fit. Jack Leslie slides out for now with a fully fit backline, while the untried Harrison Wigg has arrived from Adelaide but will need to bide his time.
NOT CONSIDERED: Michael Barlow (leg) is contracted, but how he bounces back from a second serious leg break remains to be seen, while Day needs to see how his hip copes when the pre-season training load gets heavy.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Michael Barlow, Jack Bowes, Daniel Currie, Sam Day, Brayden Fiorini, Kade Kolodjashnij, Jack Leslie, Jesse Lonergan, Tom Nicholls, Brad Scheer, Josh Schoenfeld, Jack Scrimshaw, Matt Shaw, Harrison Wigg, Mackenzie Willis
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Darcy MacPherson, Max Spencer - Jennifer Phelan
B: Heath Shaw, Aidan Corr, Adam Tomlinson
HB: Zac Williams, Phil Davis, Nick Haynes
C: Tom Scully, Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield
HF: Dylan Shiel, Jeremy Cameron, Toby Greene
F: Brett Deledio, Jonathon Patton, Tim Taranto
R: Rory Lobb, Stephen Coniglio, Josh Kelly
INT: Jacob Hopper, Will Setterfield, Adam Kennedy, Ryan Griffen
NOTES: It's a new-look forward line with just two talls, and no Steve Johnson or Devon Smith. Shiel (along with resting midfield stars Kelly, Ward and Coniglio) can play high with Greene and Deledio and cause serious problems with his speed. Taranto is part of the onball rotation, as are Hopper and Setterfield off the bench, with Kennedy's speed and ability to play a variety of roles giving him the nod over de Boer. Griffen will replace the departed Wilson in defence, but can move into the midfield if required, and he wins the last spot just ahead of de Boer, Himmelberg and Perryman.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Matt Buntine, Isaac Cumming, Matt de Boer, Jeremy Finlayson, Matthew Flynn, Harry Himmelberg, Tim Mohr, Harry Perryman, Dawson Simpson, Lachie Tiziani
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Daniel Lloyd, Sam Reid, Zach Sproule, Jake Stein - Adam Curley
B: Ben Stratton, James Frawley, Ryan Burton
HB: Grant Birchall, Kaiden Brand, James Sicily
C: Isaac Smith, Shaun Burgoyne, Jaeger O'Meara
HF: Luke Breust, Tim O'Brien, Jack Gunston
F: Cyril Rioli, Jarryd Roughead, Paul Puopolo
R: Ben McEvoy, Tom Mitchell, Liam Shiels
INT: Jarman Impey, Daniel Howe, Blake Hardwick, Teia Miles
NOTES: The return of Stratton, Frawley, Birchall and Rioli from injury adds a new sheen to the Hawks' line-up. How the youngsters who rose to prominence in their absence fare alongside those veterans will be the key to Hawthorn's 2018 fortunes. Burton's role will be fascinating, given his versatility to also play forward and likelihood to end up in the midfield at some stage. Where ruck-forwards Jonathon Ceglar and Ty Vickery fit into the picture remains to be seen, as well as developing big man Marc Pittonet, who appears good enough to step in when needed. Hardwick is eyeing Puopolo's forward role. Swingman Ryan Schoenmakers will be thereabouts, too, while Billy Hartung, Taylor Duryea, Will Langford, Ricky Henderson, Conor Glass and Kieran Lovell should play senior footy.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Jonathon Ceglar, Taylor Duryea, Kurt Heatherley, Ricky Henderson, Will Langford, Mitchell Lewis, Kieran Lovell, Harry Morrison, Jono O'Rourke, Marc Pittonet, Ryan Schoenmakers, Kade Stewart, Ty Vickery, Brendan Whitecross, Dallas Willsmore.
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: James Cousins, Conor Glass, Oliver Hanrahan, Conor Nash – Marc McGowan
B: Neville Jetta, Oscar McDonald, Jake Lever
HB: Jordan Lewis, Sam Frost, Michael Hibberd
C: Dom Tyson, Nathan Jones, Jayden Hunt
HF: Jake Melksham, Tom McDonald, Christian Petracca
F: Jeff Garlett, Jesse Hogan, James Harmes
R: Max Gawn, Clayton Oliver, Jack Viney
INT: Angus Brayshaw, Christian Salem, Alex Neal-Bullen, Bernie Vince
NOTES: The Demons are suddenly flush with depth. Mitch Hannan, Cameron Pedersen and Billy Stretch were unlucky to miss out, while 2015 top-10 pick Sam Weideman's apprenticeship is ongoing. There is room for another taller-type forward, so Hannan, Pedersen and Weideman are right around the mark. This team assumes Sam Frost's return from the VFL, which shifts Tom McDonald into attack. Ex-Docker Harley Balic, Corey Maynard, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Dean Kent, Tomas Bugg, Aaron vandenBerg, Josh Wagner, Dion Johnstone and Joel Smith will push for senior selection, too. Vince looks vulnerable in what will likely be his final season, and Melbourne will be keen to see progress from developing ruckmen Mitch King and Lochie Filipovic. A mature-aged big man may be on the delisted free agent wishlist, while outside midfielders with speed and class remain a priority.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Harley Balic, Tomas Bugg, Mitch Hannan, Dion Johnstone, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Dean Kent, Mitch King, Pat McKenna, Cameron Pedersen, Billy Stretch, Aaron vandenBerg, Josh Wagner, Sam Weideman
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Lochie Filipovic, Declan Keilty, Corey Maynard, Joel Smith, Tim Smith – Marc McGowan
B: Daniel Nielson, Scott Thompson, Jamie Macmillan
HB: Sam Wright, Robbie Tarrant, Marley Williams
C: Jarrad Waite, Ben Cunnington, Luke McDonald
HF: Taylor Garner, Mason Wood, Trent Dumont
F: Kayne Turner, Ben Brown, Jy Simpkin
R: Todd Goldstein, Shaun Higgins, Jack Ziebell
INT: Shaun Atley, Nathan Hrovat, Ryan Clarke, Declan Mountford
NOTES: Ben Jacobs, like Sam Wright, failed to play a senior match in 2017, because of ongoing foot problems and managed only seven a year earlier, so trails Dumont and Mountford as the resident tagger. The Roos are in a time of transition, and kids such as Simpkin, Clarke, Mountford and Nielson are the priority. Expect Paul Ahern to force his way into contention, too, once he strings together some VFL games, while Ed Vickers-Willis, Sam Durdin, Ben McKay, Josh Williams, Nick Larkey, Cameron Zurhaar and Mitch Hibberd will push hard as well. The ruck looms as a problem area again. Braydon Preuss warrants senior selection, but is stuck behind 2015 All Australian Goldstein, who was a long way off his best this year. Then there's Majak Daw. Is he a ruckman? Is he a key forward?
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Paul Ahern, Jed Anderson, Majak Daw, Mitch Hibberd, Nick Larkey, Ben McKay, Braydon Preuss, Andrew Swallow, Lindsay Thomas, Ed Vickers-Willis, Declan Watson, Josh Williams
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Oscar Junker, Cameron Zurhaar – Marc McGowan
B: Darcy Byrne-Jones, Tom Clurey, Tom Jonas
HB: Hamish Hartlett, Jack Hombsch, Jasper Pittard
C: Steven Motlop, Ollie Wines, Justin Westhoff
HF: Chad Wingard, Jack Watts, Tom Rockliff
F: Robbie Gray, Charlie Dixon, Sam Gray
R: Paddy Ryder, Travis Boak, Brad Ebert
INT: Jared Polec, Karl Amon, Sam Powell-Pepper, Matthew Broadbent
NOTES: The Power's big three recruits – Tom Rockliff, Steven Motlop and Jack Watts – slot straight into the best 22. Rockliff will play forward and in the midfield, Motlop's pace sees him start on the wing while Watts provides another tall target in attack alongside Charlie Dixon. Dan Houston is unlucky to be squeezed out of the backline. The same goes for key defensive prospect Dougal Howard, with the more experienced Jack Hombsch just getting the nod. Howard and Houston could still force their way into the side with strong performances in the JLT Series.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Joe Atley, Riley Bonner, Willem Drew, Billy Frampton, Dougal Howard, Aidyn Johnson, Todd Marshall, Jake Neade, Jesse Palmer, Jimmy Toumpas, Matthew White.
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Brett Eddy, Cameron Hewett, Dan Houston, Emmanuel Irra, Peter Ladhams, Jarrod Lienert, Will Snelling. - Lee Gaskin
B: Dylan Grimes, Alex Rance, Bachar Houli
HB: Brandon Ellis, David Astbury, Nick Vlastuin
C: Kamdyn McIntosh, Dustin Martin, Kane Lambert
HF: Shane Edwards, Jack Riewoldt, Daniel Rioli
F: Jacob Townsend, Josh Caddy, Daniel Butler
R: Toby Nankervis, Trent Cotchin, Dion Prestia
INT: Shaun Grigg, Jack Graham, Nathan Broad, Jason Castagna
NOTES: This wasn't a hard team to put together, since the Tigers basically had a full list to pick from for the Grand Final and no players were traded in. On the fringes, the likes of Shai Bolton and Sam Lloyd have shown enough to indicate they could slot into the best-22 up forward, while Corey Ellis has the class to make this side better. If Damien Hardwick opts to pick a second tall in the forward line, Ben Griffiths looms as the obvious candidate, if he can overcome his concussion issues.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Jake Batchelor, Shai Bolton, Reece Conca, Nathan Drummond, Corey Ellis, Ryan Garthwaite, Ben Griffiths, Shaun Hampson, Ben Lennon, Sam Lloyd, Oleg Markov, Connor Menadue, Anthony Miles, Jayden Short
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Mabior Chol, Callum Moore, Ivan Soldo, Tyson Stengle - Dinny Navaratnam
B: Jarryn Geary, Nathan Brown, Dylan Roberton
HB: Shane Savage, Jake Carlisle, Jimmy Webster
C: Jack Sinclair, Jack Steele, Jack Newnes
HF: Blake Acres, Josh Bruce, Jack Billings
F: Jade Gresham, Paddy McCartin, Tim Membrey
R: Billy Longer, Seb Ross, Jack Steven
INT: Koby Stevens, Sam Gilbert, David Armitage, Mav Weller
NOTES: A relatively conservative side here, with experienced names picked over younger types. Brandon White and Daniel McKenzie will push Shane Savage hard for a spot across half-back, while Bailey Rice will be hot on their heels. Despite impressive late season form, Luke Dunstan did not make the team because of the Saints' glut of inside midfielders. The one that would have St Kilda fans excited is Nathan Freeman. His story is well-known – four years without a game because of a career restricted by continuous hamstring setbacks. A right ankle injury ended his 2017 prematurely but he should be in contention for an AFL spot early next year.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Logan Austin, Josh Battle, Luke Dunstan, Nathan Freeman, Hugh Goddard, Tom Hickey, Jason Holmes, Ben Long, Jack Lonie, Daniel McKenzie, Darren Minchington, Ed Phillips, Lewis Pierce, Bailey Rice, Brandon White, Nathan Wright
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Ray Connellan, Darragh Joyce, Rowan Marshall, Nick O'Kearney - Dinny Navaratnam
B: Nick Smith, Heath Grundy, Aliir Aliir
HB: Jarrad McVeigh, Dane Rampe, Jake Lloyd
C: Dan Hannebery, Josh Kennedy, Zak Jones
HF: Kieren Jack, Sam Reid, George Hewett
F: Will Hayward, Lance Franklin, Tom Papley
R: Kurt Tippett, Luke Parker, Isaac Heeney
INT: Callum Mills, Nic Newman, Oliver Florent, Dean Towers
NOTES: John Longmire likes having two ruckmen but using Tippett one out with Towers pinch-hitting off the bench makes the Swans more mobile, and gives the team more marking power inside 50. Melican had a fantastic year and is more reliable and consistent, but Aliir gets his chance purely because he brings more offensive value to the back half. After another poor finals series Rohan misses out, with Jack, Hayward and Papley, plus Florent off the bench the preferred options as high-pressure forwards. Mills moves into the midfield rotation off the bench with Newman, Lloyd and Jones all versatile enough to rotate through the midfield, wing or across half back.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Darcy Cameron, Harry Cunningham, Jordan Dawson, Jordan Foote, Alex Johnson, Jack Maibaum, Harry Marsh, Lewis Melican, Sam Naismith, Dan Robinson, Gary Rohan, James Rose, Callum Sinclair.
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Sam Fisher, Robbie Fox, Colin O'Riordan, Toby Pink, Ben Ronke - Adam Curley
B: Brad Sheppard, Tom Barrass, Jackson Nelson
HB: Liam Duggan, Jeremy McGovern, Shannon Hurn
C: Lewis Jetta, Elliot Yeo, Andrew Gaff
HF: Mark LeCras, Jack Darling, Jack Redden
F: Willie Rioli, Josh Kennedy, Jamie Cripps
R: Nic Naitanui, Luke Shuey, Dom Sheed
INT: Nathan Vardy, Brendon Ah Chee, Daniel Venables, Mark Hutchings
NOTES: Ex-Power onballer Ah Chee should be close to West Coast's best team next year, but balancing the number of inside midfielders will be key with Redden, Hutchings and Sheed playing similar roles. Yeo and Duggan could also be shifted into the engine room. The Eagles need to invest in players with pace at this year's draft and will also hope Shuey clone Venables comes on next year with an injury-free run. Rioli helps solve the crumbing forward problem if he can get fitter over pre-season and stay on the park. Mackenzie's late-season form suggests he will could easily remain in the back six, while Lycett and Vardy are set to battle for the No.2 ruck role.
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Matthew Allen, Tom Cole, Josh Hill, Mark Hutchings, Malcolm Karpany, Tom Lamb, Scott Lycett, Eric Mackenzie, Chris Masten, Kurt Mutimer, Luke Partington, Josh Rotham, Will Schofield, Jake Waterman, Sharrod Wellingham
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Tarir Bayok, Tom Gorter, Fraser McInnes, Jordan Snadden, Francis Watson – Travis King
B: Dale Morris, Marcus Adams, Easton Wood
HB: Jason Johannisen, Jackson Trengove, Bailey Williams
C: Jack Macrae, Tom Liberatore, Matt Suckling
HF: Toby McLean, Tom Boyd, Tory Dickson
F: Luke Dahlhaus, Jack Redpath, Bailey Dale
R: Jordan Roughead, Marcus Bontempelli, Lachie Hunter
INT: Liam Picken, Zaine Cordy, Caleb Daniel, Hayden Crozier
NOTES: Recruits Jackson Trengove and Hayden Crozier should slot straight into the best 22, but it will be interesting to see where fellow new Dog Josh Schache sits come round one. Senior regulars Mitch Wallis and Shane Biggs are unlucky not to get a guernsey, but the Dogs have good depth. Josh Dunkley, Lin Jong and Lukas Webb are capable midfielders on the periphery, while second-year forwards Patrick Lipinski and Fergus Greene will be pushing for senior footy. Big man Tom Campbell appears set for another season bereft of senior opportunites, while the development of impressive youngster Tim English in the ruck will be interesting to watch.
NOT CONSIDERED: Stewart Crameri (likely to be delisted), Mitch Honeychurch (likely to be delisted)
REMAINING SENIOR LIST: Shane Biggs, Tom Campbell, Kieran Collins, Travis Cloke, Josh Dunkley, Tim English, Fergus Greene, Lin Jong, Patrick Lipinski, Fletcher Roberts, Josh Schache, Clay Smith, Mitch Wallis, Lukas Webb, Lewis Young.
REMAINING ROOKIE LIST: Brad Lynch, Nathan Mullenger-McHugh, Roarke Smith. - Ryan Davidson
