AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan has hailed the work of the Fremantle Dockers in establishing their new elite training and administration facility in Cockburn Central.
McLachlan was given a tour of the facility by Fremantle CEO Steve Rosich.
The tour focused on the player facilities and the ties between Freo’s new home base and the community through the Cockburn ARC.
“We’ve gone end to end…it’s incredibly impressive,” McLachlan said.
“From the start that it’s a community facility that houses an elite (training) facility.
“The way it flows from start to finish, it really deals with the needs of the players as a priority but integrates that with the rest of the footy club and then to the community, so a big congratulations to the Fremantle footy club.”
McLachlan said the facility sets a new benchmark in the AFL.
“(The standard has been set) probably too high, I said to Steve that we want all of our other clubs to stay away as this has gone to another level,” McLachlan said.
“The scale, the finish the thought, it’s very impressive.”
