Defender Ebony Antonio has been charged by the AFLW’s Match Review Panel for her bump on the Western Bulldogs’ Jess Gardner during the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s clash at VU Whitten Oval.
Antonio’s bump was classified as a two week sanction, however she can have the suspension reduced to one week with an early guilty plea.
After speaking to the umpire who made the report on match-day, and based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Western Bulldogs Football Club, the MRP classified the incident as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.
The club has until Tuesday morning to decide if the charge will be contested.
If Antonio accepts the suspension, she will miss Sunday’s round two clash against the Brisbane Lions at Fremantle Oval, which is Fremantle’s first home game of the NAB AFL Women’s competition.
