The Brisbane Lions have snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 57-point victory at the Gabba on Saturday night.

The 18.13 (121) to 9.10 (64) defeat is the Freo Dockers' third straight.

Brisbane looked rejuvenated after a week off and blew the game open with a six goals to two first quarter.

Captain Dayne Beams was a four-quarter driving force, finishing with 35 touches and showed his class in the greasy conditions, while Tom Rockliff (27) was excellent in his first match back from a dislocated shoulder.

Fremantle appeared tired and should relish their week off.

Lachie Neale (32), Brad Hill (24) and Nat Fyfe (18) tried hard but to little avail.

The Freo Dockers gave a flicker of hope during a wet second quarter when they reduced a 36-point deficit to 20, but Lewy Taylor's goal on the half-time siren seemed to take the sting out of the contest.

"The whole performance is not what we want to stand for as a team and a club," Lyon said.

"I thought our midfield got obliterated. They couldn't get near them.

"We need to go to the break, we need to re-assess and we need to make some changes, because we can't just roll along."

In the third quarter, the Lions dominated their opponents, having 10 scoring shots before Fremantle went inside 50 for the first time.

They comfortably won all the key indicators – disposals (442-321), clearances (46-28), contested possessions (148-122) and inside 50 (65-43).

The win completes a terrific week for the club, following the signature of former number two draft pick Josh Schache, who committed to the Lions for a further two years.
