A fruitful night at Adelaide Oval against the Crows this Saturday could be a cause for celebration for Michael Walters.
Walters, who kicked three goals against Carlton last Sunday, says that Freo’s indigenous players are hoping to have the chance to enjoy a special goal celebration if they can put in a strong performance.
Both Walters and Pearce have done a similar celebration in the past in the 2015 clash with GWS at Subiaco Oval.
“I don’t have a dance planned as yet but I’m pretty sure me, Johnno (Michael Johnson) and Danyle (Pearce) will work on something this week,” Walters said.
“Bradley Hill’s up there, he loves a dance and loves a sing along.
“We’ll get the rehearsals done and see how we go.”
Walters was wearing the jumper Fremantle will wear on Saturday, which was designed by Fremantle’s no.1 ticket holder Richard Walley and 1997 Doig Medallist Dale Kickett.
The design continues the theme of Fremantle’s original indigenous jumper, with the three chevrons altered to boomerangs to represent the past, present and future of the club.
The guernsey also features artwork around the body of the jumper, with the discs representing Fremantle’s players, administration and fans.
The wider design denotes the six Nyoongar seasons, which are Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambarang - and the waves of energy that flows through each of these seasons as nature changes during the year.
“This is the new jumper we’re wearing this week against Adelaide, it symbolises the players, the staff, the coaches as well as the members and supporters as well,” Walters said.
“Richard Walley and Dale Kickett designed this one for us…it’s very special and we really love the jumpers.”
“It means a lot, not only for me because I’m indigenous but for the footy people as well. This is a sport that brings us all together and makes us all one.”
