Fremantle’s new recruit Lloyd Meek is looking forward to learning from fellow ruckman Aaron Sandilands as well as re-connecting with old teammate Sean Darcy.
Meek, who was selected with pick 69 in Friday’s NAB AFL Draft got to know Sean Darcy through the VIC country football program and rucked against him in the 2016 TAC Cup.
“It will be good to compete against Sean at training but I am really looking forward to working with him and learning a lot,” Meek said.
Having been to Fremantle just once before to play against WA in last year’s U18’s Championship, Meek remembers the city fondly reminiscing on Cottesloe Beach and Domain Stadium.
“It’s an amazing part of the world and I can’t wait to get over there,” Meek said
Despite not expecting it, meek described the moment he heard his name called out as an amazing moment.
“We’re from a small country in Mininera, Victoria. We weren’t sure what to expect so when it was read out there was a lot of screaming,” Meek said.
“I sort of just sat there and took it in and then everyone was in tears in a couple of seconds,” Meek described.
