Lachie Weller says Fremantle will work hard on their response to a disappointing 100-point loss to Adelaide on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval.
Fremantle dropped to a 6-4 record with the loss and have eight days to prepare for Collingwood at Domain Stadium next Sunday.
Weller told 6PR that senior coach Ross Lyon has high expectations for every Fremantle player at training during the coming week.
“The message from (Lyon) is that we have to regroup,” Weller said.
“We have an eight-day break and we’ve just got to train really hard on the track and move on really.
“We’re going to need to be back on top of our game to win against Collingwood. You’d expect a pretty good response from the boys, hopefully.”
Adelaide jumped Fremantle under heavy rain in the opening term. The Crows led by 33 points at quarter time with 14 inside 50 entries to Freo’s one.
Weller refused any suggestion that the rain played a part in limiting Freo’s performance.
“It was tough conditions but it was the same for both teams,” Weller said.
“They got off on the front foot early and they basically caught us napping.
“It wasn’t good enough and we need to be better than that.”
Alongside fellow 21-year-old Connor Blakely, Weller was one of Fremantle’s shining lights of the evening.
Weller racked up 30 disposals and kicked two goals while Blakely collected 28 disposals, a career high 12 clearances and eight tackle performance.
20-year-old Darcy Tucker also had a strong showing with two goals and 20 disposals, while captain Nat Fyfe dug in with 13 contested possessions from his 25 touches.

“I wanted to go to the end no matter what the scoreboard was saying,” Weller said.
“I was pretty happy with my game but I suppose it still wasn’t good enough.
“I think Fyfey was really good and Connor was good all night as well.
“There were a few guys that tried to step up but it takes more than a few to win a game.”
