With the Doig Medal Presentation Dinner rapidly approaching, fremantlefc.com.au looks at which players are likely to place well in the club’s best and fairest at the BelleVue Ballroom at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 6 October.
When Ed Langdon ran out in round one, he had just 25 games of AFL experience to his name.
In 2018, he added 21 games to his resume, only missing Freo’s round clash with GWS in Canberra as a late withdrawal due to illness.
The speedy midfielder racked up 25 disposals or more on 12 occasions and he was one of Freo’s key ball movers in 2018, placing second at the club for inside 50s, metres gained and marks.
Langdon played key roles in Fremantle’s wins over Adelaide, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs and Carlton, while he fought valiantly in Freo’s narrow loss to West Coast in round six.
Only David Mundy and Lachie Neale played more games that Langdon in 2018, giving the midfielder plenty of opportunities to rack up votes on the night.
The only downside to the 22-year-old’s season was the occasional inconsistent performance, with Langdon by his own admission saying he’s setting a goal on delivering every week as he looks to build for 2019.
