Fremantle have fallen by 58-points in a high-scoring and tense Western Derby on Sunday at Optus Stadium.

West Coast won every quarter in their 21.16 (142) to 13.6 (84) win, however a hit on Andew Brayshaw by Andrew Gaff is most likely to dominate the post-game analysis.

Brayshaw was felled in the third term by an off the ball hit and was taken to hospital with a broken jaw after which tensions rose between both teams for the remainder of the game following the incident.

Eighteen-year-old Brayshaw was one of Fremantle’s best prior to coming off injured, with a stellar opening term – collecting 10 disposals and laying three tackles.

Bradley Hill won most of the footy for Fremantle with 30 touches while David Mundy (27 disposals) and Lachie Neale (26) were again among Freo’s highest contributors.

Fremantle had four multiple goalkickers in Matt Taberner, Cam McCarthy, Michael Walters and Brandon Matera who kicked two goals each.

Taberner’s two majors came in a promising return from injury while McCarthy made a statement on his return to the starting 22 with his two goals and six marks.

Walters provided what was arguably the highlight of the game with a screamer over Jeremy McGovern in the final term.

Sean Darcy won the most hitouts (33) on the day as the two teams split the hitouts count 39 each, with West Coast winning the clearances 36-32.

With 26 disposals and two goals, Elliot Yeo was announced as the inaugural Glendinning-Allan medallist while Jack Redden and Gaff led the Eagles with 33 disposals each.

Fremantle will remain in WA the third consecutive week with a clash against Carlton next Sunday 12 August.
