- Opposition: Sore knee may sideline key Tiger
See who could come into Fremantle’s starting 22 when they face Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.
Freo will need to make at least one change with Michael Walters ruled out with a knee injury. Brennan Cox, Shane Kersten, Ryan Nyhuis and Brady Grey are all chances to take on the vacant role in the forwardline.
Brennan Cox
The 193cm key position player has spent time in both the forwardline and defence at Peel this season, averaging 6.5 marks per game. Cox played 10 games for Fremantle in 2017 and kicked four goals.
Shane Kersten
Kersten played 20 games as a forward for Fremantle in 2017 and has one appearance at AFL level under his belt in 2018. At Peel, Kersten played primarily as a backman, averaging six marks and 13.8 disposals per game.
Ryan Nyhuis
Drafted as a defender, Nyhuis is continuing to work as a forward with Peel, kicking two goals as a pressure forward against East Perth on Sunday. Nyhuis played four games for Freo in 2017, kicking five goals.
Brady Grey
Coming off a hamstring injury, Grey is listed as a test to make his return to football this week. If fit, Grey could provide coverage for the injured Walters as a pressure forward – the same role he played in 2017 with 14 appearances and 10 goals.
Tommy Sheridan
A strong performance for Peel could see Sheridan make his return to the AFL starting 22. The speedy midfielder has played two games at AFL level in 2018 and he collected 29 disposals, laid six tackles and delivered four inside 50s against East Perth on Sunday.
Michael Apeness
With Aaron Sandialnds continuing to shoulder the ruck load in 2018, Fremantle could turn to Michael Apeness for assistance. The versatile ruck/forward made a successful return from injury for Peel on Sunday, collecting 37 hitouts and taking four contested marks while playing on AFL listed opponents from East Perth.
Tom North
Fremantle has already injected youth into its midfield ranks through Andrew Brayshaw and Adam Cerra this season and no.65 pick Tom North is putting his hand up as the next in line. Against East Perth, North collected 21 disposals, laid six tackles and took seven marks in one of his best performances this season.
