Despite their four-point loss to the Adelaide Crows in a tight contest, Fremantle AFLW midfielder Lisa Webb said her team never gave up in the final term of the game in Darwin.
“We were just trying to get the ball into the 50 and the girls did a great job at that, but it was really tough,” she said.
“Obviously there were quite a few girls down there trying to make a contest, but it definitely was difficult, and in the end we just fell short.”
With 20 disposals and two goals Dana Hooker was dominant in the midfield.
Webb praised Hooker, as well as captain Kara Donnellan (16 disposals and 6 tackles) and ruck Alicia Janz (17 hit-outs) on their impressive performances.
“She (Hooker) works hard week in, week out and is super consistent,” Webb said.
“She also had some really good contributors around her- ‘Juddy’ was amazing and Janz competed really well in the ruck.
“I’m really proud of the midfield and obviously the whole team and how they went today.”
In her first year at the club, Webb said she was proud of the playing group and the ‘professionalism’ they have shown throughout the season.
“You can’t fault their work effort and their commitment to what we’re doing,” she said.
“The girls are really driven, we work tirelessly week in, week out, and unfortunately we didn’t get over the line today, but we really put as much effort in as we could to get the points, and we just fell short.”
