Young forward Emily McGuire is set to make her NAB AFL Women’s debut when Fremantle take on the undefeated Melbourne on Sunday at Fremantle Oval.

The 19-year-old comes in to replace Stacey Barr, who was suspended for one game for striking during Freo’s 13-point win against Collingwood on Saturday 10 February at Optus Stadium.

McGuire, who has played in the past two Swan Districts premiership sides in the WAWFL, has been named at centre half forward.

Fremantle could potentially have another debutant in Tayla McAuliffe, who was named on the extended bench of seven, alongside Leah Mascall, Gemma Houghton, Ashley Sharp, Jodie White, Lara Filocamo and Tiah Haynes.

McAuliffe and Haynes are also potential inclusions after being emergencies for Freo’s clash with Collingwood in round two.

Fremantle sits fifth on the AFLW ladder with one win and one loss, while Melbourne is third with two wins from the opening two rounds.

Fremantle’s clash with Melbourne is on Sunday 18 February at Fremantle Oval, commencing at 3.35pm WST.
