Fremantle AFLW midfielder Hayley Miller praised her teammate Ebony Antonio in her team’s 18-point loss to GWS at Fremantle Oval on Saturday.
Gathering 19 disposals and seven contested possessions, Antonio was influential in defence.
“Off the half back line she just rebounds for us really well, and for intercept marks I think she is one of the top in the team, if not the top,” Miller said.
“Every week, week in week out, she’s just incredible and I think she did that again today and you can’t discredit her game, despite the team loss.”
With 15 disposals and 5 tackles, Miller said midfielder Stephanie Cain also played well in her team’s defeat.
“She always cracks in pretty hard and her second, third and fourth efforts are really impressive,” she said.
“She’s always in our highlights when we watch the vision, and I am sure she’ll have a few more in there this week.”
Coming off a tough loss, Miller said AFLW senior coach Michelle Cowan found it important to find positives from the game.
“She was pretty disappointed with how we played and what we dished up today,” Miller said.
“We’ll look at the vision, re-watch the game and go through all those sorts of things, fix the errors and go into next week knowing what we did wrong and how to fix it.
“I think on the track we have just got to hone in on the things we need to work on and take those into next week.”
