Senior development coach Marc Webb runs through how each of the 12 Fremantle-listed players performed for Peel in their six-point loss to Perth at Rushton Park on Sunday.
Tayin Duman
Taylin was the emergency from the AFL game on Saturday and it was good performance. He played across half back and collected 28 possessions with 10 marks and was one of the key players that helped set up Peel’s offensive drive while also being strong in the one-on-one contests.
Ethan Hughes
Ethan played well in the back line and was strong physically in the contest. He finished with eight marks and was impressive one-on-one.
Danyle Pearce
Danyle played on the ball, spent some time on the wing and had five clearances. He was strong at the centre square bounces when getting the ball forward.
Ryan Nyhuis
Ryan played across half-back, he was good defensively and collected more of the ball this week with 23 possessions. He played well going up against Perth’s half forwards Callum Collard and Richard Bourne.
Brennan Cox
Brennan played at full back and had a challenging game up against Perth’s Spencer White. Brennan was good with the ball in hand and collected 20 possessions and had nine marks. It was a good challenge for Brennan.
Cameron Sutcliffe
Cam started at half-back and we moved him to the wing late in the third quarter. He was really good with his run late in the game and was solid in defence.
Tom North
Tom played on the ball and had a slow start with five possessions in the first half. He started to work himself into the game, kicking a goal and having 12 possessions in the second half while playing on the ball. He was really good with his pressure around the contest with five tackles.
Sam Switkowski
Sam played a half forward role and was really good with his pressure and his release. He came off in the third quarter due to a hamstring injury but had 13 possessions up to half time and kicked 1.1. He was really pressing hard and showed some really good signs.
Lloyd Meek
Lloyd played forward and in the ruck. He ended up with 17 hitouts, two clearances and kicked a good goal to help Peel get close to Perth in the final term. His follow up around the contest was good but he still needs to work on some of his ruck hitouts.
Shane Kersten
Shane played back for three quarters and then we threw him forward. He was able to kick a goal in the final term and take some strong marks. Again, he was solid defensively without getting a lot of the ball but he was rarely beaten one-on-one.
Luke Strnadica
Luke played forward and in the ruck He was really promising in his first league game this year. He had 18 hitouts, kicked a really good goal in the last quarter and showed some promising signs with his tapwork.
Scott Jones
Scott played ruck and forward. He didn’t get a lot of the ball with five possessions. He also had 18 hit outs and two clearances and will keep working on being active around the contest and taking a few more marks when he goes forward.
