- Freo's big defensive aim
- Match preview v Adelaide
- 'He's been the best defender in the competition this year'
Fremantle face Adelaide on Sunday at Adelaide Oval. Here’s who could come in for the clash.
Connor Blakely
The midfielder made his return from injury for Peel against Subiaco. After a slow start to the game, he finished strongly with 20 disposals. When fully fit, Blakely is a lock for Fremantle’s starting 22, however it is hard to find an obvious out if Blakely makes the trip to Adelaide.
Taylin Duman
The defender missed Freo’s round six win against the Western Bulldogs due to suspension, however his return is not guaranteed thanks to an impressive performance by replacement Ryan Nyhuis. Duman has averaged 11 disposals and 4.7 marks per game this year.
Griffin Logue
The defender is set to return from a hamstring injury this weekend but it seems more likely it will be via the WAFL, especially considering the form of Fremantle’s defence. Logue will also likely need time to build after not playing at AFL level since round 23, 2017.
Sean Darcy
Darcy has not played at AFL level since being managed following Fremantle’s loss to Gold Coast in round two. The ruckman has played the past three weeks for Peel, averaging 43 hitouts per game.
Brennan Cox
The versatile key position player had 16 disposals and four marks for Peel against Subiaco. This year, he had made one appearance for Fremantle, playing in round five against GWS.
Mitch Crowden
The midfielder has travelled as an emergency for the past two away games. He had a comparatively quiet game for Peel at the weekend with 15 disposals after racking up 26 and 32 touches in his previous two WAFL appearances.
Bailey Banfield
Banfield played the opening three games of the season, averaging 15 disposals per game. The midfielder was held over as an emergency for the Fremantle game and did not play for Peel at the weekend.
