The Fremantle Football Club has advised the AFL it will challenge Taylin Duman’s two-match sanction for striking during the club’s clash with GWS on Saturday at UNSW Canberra Oval.
Duman made contact with GWS player Lachie Whitfield in the third quarter of the game.
Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from GWS, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Fremantle have decided to challenge the ban and risk a $10,000 fee if it is upheld.
The tribunal hearing is set to be held on Tuesday afternoon.
