Senior coach Ross Lyon indicated after the Carlton Mid Derby loss that Matt de Boer and Chris Mayne would be possible candidates for a midfield role.
While Mayne trained with the forward group, de Boer was involved in centre square stoppage work during the session.
Hayden Ballantyne, who has played mainly in the midfield this season, also trained with the forwards and spent a lot of time roving to marking contests.
Adam McPhee didn’t train with the main group and looks set to miss the Crows’ game.
