Versatile midfielder Reece Conca believes his teammates will adopt a ‘next man in mentality’ for Fremantle’s clash with Port Adelaide at Optus Stadium this Saturday.

Two selection changes will need to be made to the team in the absence of Alex Pearce and Rory Lobb due to injury.

Conca said his teammates will stick to routine and place focus on playing as they have trained all year.

“We will soldier on and stick to the process and whoever comes in will play their role,” Conca said.

“We’ve got a great tight-knit group who really enjoy being at the club and playing football together.

“I think that’s a real important piece for us and it will be a next man in mentality.”

Conca pointed to Fremantle’s depth of ruck stocks in consideration for Lobb’s replacement and credited the development of young ruck Sean Darcy.

“Sean is a fantastic ruckman, he is young and developing, so it is very exciting,” Conca said.

“I think Sean is available to play but we’ll leave selection to the powers above.

“We’ve got quality young players like Darcy, Lloyd Meek and Scott Jones…so someone will come in and play their role and we’ll soldier on.”

Conca said the team was prepared for a strong four-quarter effort against Port Adelaide this weekend.

“Port are a great outfit and we’ll have a look at them during the week to prepare,” Conca said.

“Coming off the bye we’re sitting at 6-5 on the ladder and in a good position.

“We’re confident that our best footy stacks up and we’ve had a real emphasis on remaining consistent through four quarters.

“It’s a great opportunity against Port Adelaide who are playing great footy…we’ll be ready to play come Saturday.”
