Fremantle defender Alex Silvagni has been handed a four game ban for striking West Coast’s Jamie Cripps during the second quarter of Sunday’s match.
Silvagni was referred straight to the tribunal by the Match Review Panel on Monday.
Scans on Tuesday cleared Cripps of structural damage to his jaw, and is listed as a test on the club's injury list.
Silvagni told the tribunal he was apologetic for his actions.
"It didn't sit with me well at the time, during the game, or still now," he said.
"As a footballer I don't like seeing it and I didn't mean to do it."
It continues a difficult year for the defender, who was playing just his second game for the season on Sunday, after he missed the first 17 games of 2015 due to a hamstring injury.
Silvagni will now miss games against North Melbourne, Melbourne, Port Adelaide and the side’s first final.
The tribunal is currently investigating the biting allegation on West Coast Eagles midfielder Chris Masten.
