According to AFL figures, a total of 18,778 eligible members registered for tickets for the 2013 Toyota AFL Grand Final, which means, should Fremantle qualify for the Grand Final, there will be a ballot.
A ballot is required because the number of registrations exceeded the 14,000 tickets allocated to each competing club by the AFL. The AFL figures confirm that 7129 Priority One Fremantle members registered for Grand Final tickets yesterday.
All Priority One Fremantle members who registered with Ticketek, including financial Harbour Masters and eligible members who purchased a Grand Final upgrade, are guaranteed tickets should Fremantle qualify for the Grand Final.
The 11,649 Priority Two Fremantle members who registered yesterday for the remaining 6871 allocated tickets, will now go into the ballot and are not guaranteed tickets.
The ballot is managed by Ticketek and, should Fremantle qualify for the Grand Final, eligible members who secure tickets via the ballot will be notified on Monday 23 September.
Eligible members who do not secure tickets via the ballot are reminded that there will be a limited number of corporate packages available via the club from the AFL, with prices starting from $1495. What does it mean if I am a Priority One member?
If you are a Priority One member (which includes financial Harbour Masters and eligible members who purchased a Grand Final upgrade) and registered with Ticketek on Thursday 12 September, you are guaranteed a Grand Final ticket should Fremantle qualify for the 2013 Toyota AFL Grand Final. You must also have sufficient funds in your credit card account to cover the cost of the ticket/s. If you did not register with Ticketek you have forfeited your right to a ticket.
What does it mean if I am a Priority Two member?
If you are a Priority Two member and registered with Ticketek on Thursday 12 September you are entered in the ballot for Grand Final tickets, this DOES NOT guarantee you a ticket. Should Fremantle qualify for the Grand Final successful members will be selected at random by Ticketek. If you did not register with Ticketek you have forfeited your right to enter the ballot.
When do I find out if I am successful in the ballot?
Should Fremantle qualify for the Grand Final members must ensure they have sufficient funds in their nominated credit card straight after the Preliminary Final. Ticketek will begin processing and allocating tickets after the Preliminary Final and will attempt to follow up rejected credit cards. Any payments not cleared by 5pm Sunday 22 September will result in tickets being cancelled.
All successful members will have their Ticketek account number displayed on the Ticketek and Fremantle websites from Monday 23 September at 9am WST.
If Fremantle qualify where can I pick up my tickets?
If you are successful you will need to collect your tickets from any Victorian Ticketek agency or a selected WA outlet (this will be advised by Ticketek in due course). Only credit card holders can collect the tickets and must present photo ID. No tickets will be posted.
Can the club assist with accommodation and flights?
If you are travelling to the 2013 Toyota AFL Grand Final, we urge you to organise your own travel and accommodation requirements.
Can I cancel my registration?
No, once you have registered you cannot withdraw your registration.
If we have registered separately can we merge our registrations?
No, you cannot merge registrations.
I can no longer use the ticket, can I re-sell it?
The AFL has advised that tickets may not, without the prior written consent of the ticket agent and the AFL, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via on-line auction sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services, either by the original purchaser or any subsequent bearer. If a ticket is sold or used in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without a refund and the bearer of the ticket may be refused admission.
Scalping warning: In addition, the AFL advises that the resale of tickets in certain circumstances is governed by ticket sales legislation and may attract criminal penalties.
The AFL Grand Final is a Declared Event under the provisions of the Major Sporting Events Act (Vic) 2009, a breach of which may be an indictable offence and allows your ticket to be cancelled.
Please be aware this law is treated seriously, in November 2012 a person was found guilty of four charges related to on-selling tickets for the 2011 Grand Final, the person was fined $5,000 and ordered to pay $1,500 in costs.
