Adam Cerra has missed only three games of AFL football since starting his career in 2018.
While the young midfielder has shown his durability throughout his first two seasons he’s hoping he is about to go through his first full pre-season.
Cerra has missed about 50 per cent of his past two pre-seasons due to injury and is looking to reap the benefits of a full summer.
“My first pre-season I came here post shoulder surgery, so I was limited then. Last pre-season I came in with a calf strain, so I didn’t really get into training with the group until after Christmas,” Cerra said.
“Touch wood, this year I’ll have no injuries and I can train all through the off-season. I feel like I’ve had a really good start to pre-season, so I hope that continues.”
While Fremantle’s five-plus year players aren’t due back for another week, Cerra has been pleased to see Fremantle’s leaders having a presence at the club.
All Australian Michael Walters has attended every session so far while Reece Conca and Alex Pearce made their first appearances at the club on Monday.
Conca took part in his own running drills as he prepares for his official return to training while Alex Pearce walked laps as he continues to rehabilitate an ankle injury.
Cerra added that tall forwards Matt Taberner and Jesse Hogan were making positive progress after injury interrupted seasons in 2019.
“It’s great seeing the leaders like Alex Pearce coming back out. It’s a shame what happened to him last year (through injury) and Reece Conca was also out there,” Cerra said.
“Matt Taberner, who was injured last year, he looks really fit running around the ground and it’s good to see him back.
“Jesse was here last week training. He’s looking really good, he’s similar to Tabs, running up and down the field and looking in good nick.”
