Fremantle has named a 28 man squad ahead of their NAB Cup Round 1 clash with West Coast at Subiaco Oval on Sunday night.

Recruits Rhys Palmer and Clayton Hinkley have been named in the squad as has Mark Johnson, who will make his first appearance for Fremantle on the weekend.

Fremantle will reduce the squad to 26 players prior to bouncedown, which was rescheduled to 7:10pm WDST start time yesterday instead of the previously scheduled 6:40pm.

It was the view of the AFL that the sweltering conditions forecast for the match and the days leading into the match coupled with the concern for player welfare required the game to be pushed back a further 30 minutes.

To counter the heat during the match there will be extended quarter breaks of 10 minutes, 25 minutes and 10 minutes respectively to enable both teams to leave the field at each break. The length of the quarters has been changed to 15 minutes plus time on from the usual NAB Cup quarter length of 17.30 minutes plus time on.

There will also be an increase in the number of water carriers permitted to run fluids to the players.
