Emerging Fremantle midfielder Andrew Brayshaw has opened up about the relationship he’s developed with senior coach Ross Lyon from his almost two years at the club to date.

Brayshaw said that the playing group fully understand that Lyon is committed to the team, despite speculation circling around the senior coach, who is contracted until the end of the 2020 season.

“He’s taking it like a champ I think, seeing some of the stuff that gets said about him. To be here and still have a smile on his face is really big from him,” Brayshaw said.

“He’s a great coach and also a great mentor. Personally, I caught up with him the other day and went into his office and I was there for about an hour just having a chat with him.

“He really does work on building those personal connections with his players, he’s more than just a coach I think.”

Brayshaw said that Lyon has been upfront with the team about the speculation.

“I don’t think the group’s confidence has wavered at all, he comes in on Monday no matter what’s being said about him and addresses the group and instils us with confidence that he’s 100 per cent committed to the team,” Brayshaw said.

“He’s really confident with where we’re at and we’re going to move forward with him.”
