Griffin Logue says that fellow defender Alex Pearce has been a great help as the young defender makes his return from more than a year out of the game due to injury.
Logue replaced Pearce in the line-up in round 13 after Pearce was ruled out for the season with an ankle injury following Fremantle’s win against Collingwood.
“Alex and I met up early and went over a few things, he hasn’t been at the club too much because of his injury but once he gets back we’ll be checking in with each other and going over vision and reviewing,” Logue said.
“He’s obviously a great help and a close friend of mine so that makes it really easy.
“It’s obviously a big hole to fill with Alex going down - it would be great to be out there playing with him.
"But with the likes of Joel Hamling and Luke Ryan arguably in All Australian form, it’s awesome to come in and slot in beside them and try and mould my game and help them, but most importantly help the team.”
Logue has impressed since stepping in as a key defender.
The 21-year-old is averaging 11 intercept possessions and four intercept marks per game from his past two games, with those averages higher than any other player this season.
Logue said he’s pleased with his form on return but is focused on improving.
“(Intercepting the ball) is just one part of the game, I’m just trying to play my role and focus on my bodywork,” Logue said.
“If I can work my man out of it and try and get my hands for myself to someone like Lukey (Ryan) to roll off and mark it, that’s what I’m aiming to do.”
