RAC has joined forces with the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles to promote road safety.

RAC is passionate about sport in WA but we are even more passionate about saving lives on WA roads. We want everyone to get home safely.

The RAC Derby is a great platform to start a conversation with football fans and their families about the deadly impact driver distraction and inattention has on our community.

Driver distraction is one of the leading causes of deaths and serious injuries on our roads and WA currently holds the unenviable position of the worst road fatality rate of any mainland State in Australia.

Reading a text while driving is the equivalent of driving 100km/h through Optus Stadium blindfolded. Tragically using a mobile phone behind the wheel is an act which 80 per cent of WA drivers admit to doing, despite 9 in 10 labelling it as risky.

With support from the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles, the RAC Derby will allow road safety awareness to be taken directly to more than 100,000 spectators each year.
