Fremantle will play Carlton in the First Preliminary Final at Ikon Park on Saturday 23 March, commencing at 2.45pm EDT (11.45am WST).
The fixture was confirmed by the AFL on Monday, alongside the Second Preliminary Final between Adelaide and Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Sunday 24 March.
The winners will face off in the Grand Final on Sunday 31 March, with the time and location to be confirmed.
Fremantle senior coach Trent Cooper said Fremantle were excited for the challenge of taking on the Conference B winners.
“Carlton have played some really good footy. They led Adelaide by three goals in their game halfway through the third quarter so we know their firepower is probably as good as anyone in the competition,” Cooper said.
“We’re really looking forward to that challenge at Ikon Park. We’ve watched their games casually and we’ve started the tapes yesterday working through their games.”
The clash will be Fremantle’s first final in AFLW history, however Cooper said his troops are already familiar with the pressure of playing in do-or-die situations.
“We haven’t tried to take the fun out of it and we’re celebrating the wins,” Cooper said.
“We’ve been playing under the pressure of basically knock-out football for the past three weeks and there’s been no signs of nerves.
“The girls are just having fun doing what they do, so that doesn’t change at all this week.”
Fremantle are set to fly out for the clash on Friday.
“It will be a totally normal week as far as we’re concerned,” Cooper said.
“A lot of the girls had their recovery yesterday at the beach. On Monday we’ll have our review with our main training session on Tuesday, another one on Thursday before we fly out on Friday.”
