Hayden Ballantyne says he was proud of the effort the team brought to Etihad Stadium in Saturday night’s 36-point win over Carlton.
Ballantyne had three goals in the victory, but he told Channel 7’s Cameron Ling after the game that it was the return of the team’s renowned pressure that pleased the club most.
“Our pressure was outstanding, it hasn’t been with us the past couple of weeks, our pressure has dropped off a bit,” he said.
Ballantyne said Fremantle’s passion and enthusiasm was also high.
“It was great to see the boys, after every goal, getting around each other,” he said.
“I was real proud of the boys’ effort tonight.”
The feisty forward was involved in a heated passage of play in the third quarter that saw his jumper ripped off him.
He said it was all part of the game in what was an important contest for both sides.
“There’s nothing wrong with a bit of friendly banter,” Ballantyne said.
“I was a bit worried when my shirt got ripped off, I hope my skinnies were all right.”
