Fyfe appeal fails
The Freo star will miss the next two games after his challenge was dismissed
He will now miss Saturday night’s match against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium and the following week’s blockbuster battle with Collingwood in Perth.
Fyfe claimed that at no stage did he make an intentional decision to kick Richmond’s Daniel Jackson.
He said he prided himself on being a fair player and that he was offended by the accusation of 'intentional' against him.
Fyfe also emphatically denied looking at Jackson when the contact was made, but in response, the AFL legal counsel said that “doesn’t sound right”.
In closing, Fyfe’s legal counsel said there was no evidence to prove what his intention was, and therefore charge him with deliberate conduct.
They also added that the Tribunal was bound to consider Fyfe's credibility.
But that didn’t save the talented midfielder after the jury consisting of Wayne Henwood, Wayne Schimmelbusch and Emmett Dunne handed down its verdict.
They were satisfied Fyfe’s action was intentional and handed down a two-match suspension, despite the Freo counsel asking if there were exceptional and compelling circumstances to reduce thepoints penalty from 250 to 125 points and a one-match ban.
Below is an account of the Tribunal proceedings taken from an afl.com.au live chat
