After signing with Fremantle on the opening day of the 2023 delisted free agency period, McDonald’s season was cut short in his Club debut against the Lions in Round 1 due to an ACL and PCL injury. McDonald was sidelined for the remainder of the AFL season but made his return to football for Peel Thunder in the WAFL in Round 20. He showed his AFL experience in Round 21 against East Perth when he gathered 15 disposals and seven marks. The 196cm key defender will aim to make his AFL return in 2025.

Unfortunately, a forearm fracture sustained in Round 15 saw Pearce miss seven of the final eight games of the year. The 201cm key defender will once again lead the side in 2025 while continuing to take on the opposition's best forwards. Pearce has been one of the standout performers early in the preseason.

26. Hayden Young

A breakout 2024 season saw Young collect a career-best 12 Brownlow votes and achieve his highest-ever finish in the Doig Medal (third), thanks to an outstanding first full season as a midfielder. Treacy also recorded game highs for marks (12) against Melbourne in Round 19 and goals (5) against the Tigers in Round 17. The young key forward boasted an ‘elite’ Champion Data ranking for goal accuracy (71.4%) in 2024 and was rewarded with his first-ever top-five finish in the Doig Medal, placing fourth. Unfortunately, a PCL injury sidelined Treacy for the final three games of the season, but a strong rehabilitation program has seen him fit and firing in preseason as he looks to lead Fremantle’s forward line in 2025 alongside Jye Amiss.
