New recruits Georgie Brisbane and Evie Parker received the exciting news last month that they were drafted to Fremantle, and it was icing on the cake that they happened to be best mates.
As Fremantle’s first pick, Brisbane was eagerly waiting to find out who would be drafted alongside her, not knowing Parkers name would soon be called out.
“I can’t even put it into words, but I was waiting,” Brisbane said.
“Then when Evie came on, I was ecstatic and so happy.

“My parents were so happy because we all get along with Evie’s family and that’s probably when it started to kick in a little bit like in two months’ time I’ll possibly be living with Evie.
Brisbane said it was the best surprise, as the pair that were teammates in Victoria get to continue the journey in WA.
“We’ve done footy together for the past three years and we’re best friends, so now that we get to move across the country and do what we love together – it’s seriously just a dream come true,” Brisbane said.
“I was so surprised, but it was a good surprise and like I said before, I wouldn’t want the night to go any other way.”
Parker was watching the Draft with her family, when she saw Georgie’s selection and instantly looked at what picks Fremantle had remaining.
“It was so exciting, obviously seeing Georgie go earlier in the night to Freo, I was just gobsmacked she was going to be moving out of the state,” Parker said.
“Then, when I checked back at the list and saw they had another few picks in my range, I was just waiting to see whether I was going to be with her or any of my other friends, or who she was going to have.
“When my name was called with her, my Mum could not stop saying that she was so excited that I’m going with Georgie.
“We’re just best friends, it’s so good.”
